DIY - and Save!!!

I hope everyone is having an awesome New Year's Eve! I am really enjoying mine, on the couch, keeping 4 dogs (dogsitting 2!) from going crazy from all the fireworks!!! The poor babies!

So, you may know a little about me, but if not, I am a single mother of two, and I started using essential oils just a few months ago. I've been looking for ways to "clean up" my home by making fewer chemical purchases, better food choices, and just making my home a better place for me and my daughters. I believe that God put everything on this earth to keep our bodies healthy, and I also believe that we have way too many refined and chemically induced products that do more harm than good. (Ever watch commercials for medications?!?!)

The problem is that clean living can be hard on the pocket book! I was just at the store the other day and gluten free noodles was $1.00/box higher than the other noodles. This may not seem like a lot, but those bucks sure add up! If I am going to clean up my kitchen and my home, I need to find some creative ways to save!

DIY - Room Spray

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who likes to keep some spray handy in the bathroom or maybe even in the teenager's room!!! Some of the sprays and candles can be quite costly! Here is a recipe to make a spray that will cost you about $2.50 the first time and $1.50 each time after, if you reuse the bottle :)

Here is the super-simple recipe! :

1 plastic spray pump bottle

enough sea salt to almost cover the bottom of the bottle (about 1/8tsp)

2 drops Purification essential oil (helps rid the air of unwanted odors)

2 drops of preferred scent (I like lavender or citrus fresh)

distilled water to fill

Simply put the salt in the bottom of the spray bottle. (This is to give the oils something to bond to since oil/water don't mix!)

Drop in your 2 drops of Purification and 2 drops of your preferred oil. Shake the bottle slightly so that the salt soaks up the oil. Fill the bottle with distilled water and put on the pump! Wahlah! You have a refreshing room spray for about 1/3 of the price of what you pay at the store!

DIY - Handsoap

How much are you spending on those fancy foaming handsoaps? $2-$3/bottle? How about making your own for about $0.75/bottle? Again, reusing the bottle, of course!

Here's how:

2 TBSP unscented Castile soap.

1 foaming handsoap dispenser

5-6 drops of your favorite essential oil (Click here to get started!)

Distilled water to fill

Put the Castile soap in the bottom of a foaming hand soap dispenser, add your choice of oils (Theives is an awesome choice. Here, I used Lemon for the kitchen!) and fill the soap dispenser almost to the top with water. Be sure to save a little room for the foamer! Wham! Bam! Thank-you-ma'am! You have hand soap that will leave your hands clean and soft!

DIY - Carpet Deodorizer

I don't have a whole lot of carpet in my home, but we definitely have some in the bedrooms, basement, and in the CAR. There is nothing to making this carpet deodorizer to use in any of those places, and will only cost you a few drops of oil and a box of banking soda!

1 box baking soda

3 drops of Purification essential oil

3 drops of your favorite scent. (Lavender is awesome and will leave a calming, relaxing aroma in the room!)

Mix the oils into the baking powder in a mason jar. Poke holes in the lid to use as a shaker.

And that's it! The Purification rids your carpet of unwanted odors, and the other oil you choose replaces the scent with something pleasing to your nose!

I hope this helps to get your started using your Premium Starter Kit! I totally want you to enjoy this investment you've made in every way possible! Stay tuned for more tips, tricks, and recipes!
